Jeux de Cordes,
an educational project

A school project involving students in their own musical practice is an adventure that the Des Equilibres ensemble had long wanted to undertake.
It took a meeting with Graciane Finzi for the project to take shape.
Deeply committed to the dissemination of classical music, and herself a remarkable educator, Graciane Finzi composed a work specifically adapted to this project.

The musicians of the Des Equilibres ensemble, in total collaboration with the composer, take up this challenge: to have a contemporary work performed by completely novice middle school students!

In 2025-26 the Des Equilibres ensemble is in in-situ residence for the department 93 from October 2025 to April 2026, at the Liberté college in Drancy.

An educational and artistic project

Jeux de Cordes is an educational and artistic project conceived by the ensemble Des Équilibres , in collaboration with the composer Graciane Finzi . It offers students a unique immersion in the world of classical music through instrumental practice , the discovery of instrument making and audiovisual creation .

A multidisciplinary project

The project is divided into three parts :

Music : A class of 6th graders, with no prior musical experience, learns to play a stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, double bass) through an adapted program.
Lutherie : Another class discovers the construction and operation of stringed instruments during workshops led by a professional luthier.
Video : A third class produces a short film about the project, exploring shooting, editing and directing techniques.

The workshops take place over several months , during school time, under the supervision of professional musicians and teachers from the college.

At the end of the workshops, the students participate in final concerts , accompanied by musicians from the Des Équilibres ensemble and composer Graciane Finzi. This shared experience, organized in partner cultural venues , allows the students to gain real stage experience and showcase their learning to an audience.

Jeux de Cordes is part of a cultural democratization initiative , offering privileged access to classical music to students who may not otherwise be familiar with it. By developing their listening skills, creativity, and self-confidence, this project aims to inspire vocations and open new horizons.
